After being put on hiatus in 2020 due to COVID-19, this year’s First Night was held with extra care and precaution in order to ensure the safety of all in attendance. In order to attend, the Fayetteville Street visitors were required either a vaccination record or a COVID-19 test showing negative results within 48 hours of the event.

Upscaled Media was invited to participate and recap the event for headlining artist Sonny Miles, who provided music and entertainment for the event’s attendees both in-person and at home via Raleigh’s local ABC news station—WRAL. Miles, a local artist and continued Upscaled Media collaborator closed out the festival’s performances as the acorn dropped over Raleigh’s First Night.
